grand prairie friends

This organization works to preserve tallgras prairie throughout East-Central Illinois. Their site has information about praire ecosystems, prairie plants, and prairie restoration work. There is also an extensive list of web and print resources as well as information about how to get involved in prairie restoration.

prairie rivers network

This is an Illinois group that works to protect the rivers and streams of Illinois. Their site contains a list of current projects, news related to watershed health and action, and information about volunteer opportunities.

heartland pathways

Heartland Pathways works on restoring and maintaining a 33-mile network of trails and wildlife habitats in East Central Illinois. Their website offers information about the rai-trails project, as well as links to informational sites and various other local organizations.

meadowbrook prairie

This is very nice restoration prairie in Urbana's Meadowbrook Park. The site explains its history, contains a thorough description of the prairie, and lots of links to stories and articles about it. This is a great place to go to learn about a local restoration project.

student sustainability committee

The Student Sustainability Committee helps fund and sponser the use of student fees for projects relating to sustainability and alternative energy generation. They helped fund the Florida Orchird prairie restoration site which we are now maintaining.
