The Fall 2011 semester has been starting out great. We've been having workdays almost every Sunday (check our calender on the events page for the most recent updates). Our members have also worked on created some red bison promotional material. Tyler Hedlund has written a lovely article about our workday last Sunday on his blog. A few members have also created a promotional video showcasing our awesomeness.

Welcome back to campus! I hope you all had a good summer and are ready for another year of school. As you may already know, Quad Day is this Sunday, August 21st, from 12pm-4pm. Red Bison will be having a booth on the west side of the Quad, near Lincoln Hall. Every year we encourage as many members as we can to help out at the booth by promoting our club and gathering interest in what we do. Come by and check out our booth!

about us

We are a student program of the University YMCA and a Registered Student Organization at the University of Illinois. In the past, prairie fires have been called "the Red Bison". The blaze looming on the horizon was reminiscent of a huge, flaming herd of bison in stampede. In the wake of these raging walls of flame, a scorched and blackened landscape remained. But like the phoenix, from fire comes life, and it was these periodic infernos which kept our native prairie a stable biological community for thousands of years, giving us the rich dark soil that supports today's agricultural bounty. Check the links above to find out more about our organization, our site, and meeting times.
